Celebrating Camila's Science Writing!

Fourth-year student Camila Gonzalez Curbelo has written two exciting and engaging science pieces that have recently been published for all to read!

Camila has been passionate about science writing since she was a young student. Growing up in Cuba, she was an avid reader of Zunzún, a Cuban natural science magazine for children, which sparked her early love for communicating science. Today, she is grateful to be part of the vibrant science communication community at the University of Michigan and honored to contribute to its efforts to make science accessible, engaging, and inspiring for people at every stage of life!

Camila serves as a writer for an industry writing internship which is based on an exciting partnership between MiSciComm (previously known as MiSciWriters) x Arbor Assays (a local biotech company specializing in detection and immunoassay kits). She has worked closely with the editing team at MiSciComm as well as Arbor Assays’ Commercial Team Senior Manager and Digital Marketing Strategist to deliver this piece, which is now featured in the company’s Blog & News segment!

Camila is also a contributor to Equilibri-UM is a University of Michigan Science & Art Print Magazine. It is a handheld magazine that is distributed every September (but is also available online!), designed to make research across all of STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and medicine) more engaging, fun and tangible.
